To prevent the roof from getting hot, whitewash it with lime.
For 1000 square feet of roof, incinerate five kilos of lime (nuggets) in the night. Keep in mind that as soon as water is added, this lime emits a lot of heat that the water starts boiling, so be careful.
Let it soak overnight.
Wake up early in the morning and clean the roof properly and keep spreading the lime solution on the roof with a broom.
If you want, you can also add half a kilo of fevicol to this solution. Dissolve the fevicol thoroughly and take the solution in a mug, stirring it each time.
The cleaner the roof, the more whitewashed the lime is, the cooler the roof will be.
The whitewash of lime reflects the sun rays falling on the roof and the roof remains cool.
It is a tried method, I have been doing it for the last twenty years.
